Eros' from Canada to France with MONTREAL cds dated MAY 29 1940. The Eros was torpedoed by the German Submarine U-48 off the west coast of Ireland with 'SALVED FROM THE SEA' handstamps on front & reverse, boxed 'NO SERVICE RETURN TO SENDER' on front and two line 'Stamp Off Timbre Detache' marking where stamps would have been.
