666	Haiti	1825	DISINFECTED MAIL: Complete folded letter datelined 'Port au Prince, 9 August 1825' sent to UK with fine strike of boxed 'SHIP LETTER SOUTHAMPTON' marking on reverse, rated 4/3 and sent on the ship 'Simon' with 'Pr Simon via Havre' endorsement in the letter. There is also a manuscript 'Forwarded by Martin Laffette & Co. Le Havre' notation on the reverse (in French). Due to a Cholera outbreak on Haiti the cover was disinfected with Vinegar and disinfection slits at the Motherbank Quarantine station just off the Isle of Wight before being sent to 'F Huth & Co.' in LONDON with an arrival cds dated 3 OCT 1825 on reverse. The full letter in German is included and would benefit from a full translation. Rare.	£175
