100rs red on thin cream paper postal stationery envelope (H&G B24) used with RIO DE JANEIRO cds dated 4 JAN 1919. Addressed to BAHIA and censored with black on buff printed 'S.P. ABERTA PELA CENSURA' censor strip tied by straight line 'CENSURA' markings, oval '94' marking and triangular 'CORREIO BRAZIL CENSURA' censor mark in magenta on front & reverse with BAHIA arrival cds also on reverse. These censors were in place due to the Food Riots and Peasant revolts in the South of Brazil during 1917-1919.
