Plain postcard franked on reverse with 1923 1c orange with Semi Official 'Airplane' overprint in black, 1920 2c carmine and 1920 1c orange TAX issue (Sanabria #S2, SG 374 & 382) tied by QUITO cds dated 17 JUL 1923. Flown on the 15 July Quito - Ibarra first flight by the Italian aviator 'Antonio Faulin' on the airplane 'La Siria' (the QUITO cds was dated 17 JUL to commemorate the anniversary of the battle of independence in Ibarra in 1823). Addressed to IBARRA with typed message on reverse of the card detailing the special flight. Very scarce. (Muller #8)
