Mexico' return address on reverse franked with 1934 pair 20c lake and 50c green AIR issue (SG 576 & 578) tied by SERVICIO AREO MEXICO DF cds's dated 29 MAY 1943. Addressed to the RED CROSS, GENEVA, SWITZERLAND with printed black on white 'EXAMINADO CENSOR '505' MEXICO SCP 1' censor label on reverse and censored again in transit in the USA. This cover was from one of the two Internment camps set up in Mexico in 1942. This camp was located in San Carlos Prison at Perote and housed both political prisoners and a group of German and Italian sailors who were stranded in Mexico when their ships were blockaded in Mexican ports after the war began. These internees could only communicate with their families in Europe through the International Red Cross in Geneva. Very scarce.
