3c blue on buff postal stationery card (H&G 8) datelined 'Colonia Nueva Germania, Paraguay. 8 August 1888' on reverse with light strike of oval COLONIA NUEVA GERMANIA PARAGUAY marking in blue black on front and ASUNCION 'Star' cds cancelling the stamp imprint. Addressed to GERMANY with BUENOS AIRES transit cds's on front & reverse. Card is a little toned in places but believed to be the earliest known item of mail from the first German settlement in Paraguay which was only founded the previous year in August 1887.
