4c brown postal stationery viewcard (H&G 40, small date) with view of 'Patio de la Casa de Correos - Lima' datelined 'Lima 14 Nov. 1898' on reverse with 'Via Panama' in manuscript at top on front used with LIMA cds dated 15 NOV 1898. Addressed to UK with arrival cds on front. This card was sent by 'Wilhelm ?' and is addressed to a private individual in the UK. This newly discovered card is dated on the first day of issue (14 Nov) and postmarked on the following day making it the second earliest known use of these cards and also only the second card NOT addressed to a stamp dealer, and we believe the only one addressed to the UK. A great rarity and exhibition piece.
