Addressed to UK. The South African frigate H.M.S.A.S. Good Hope visited Tristan da Cunha in January 1948 to collect islanders and special boats required for the annexation of Marion Island and Prince Edward Island in Southern Ocean by South Africa to prevent their use by any foreign power as a site for guided missiles. This was known as Operation SNOEKTOWN. A fine & rare combination cover.
