Heavily burned and damaged airmail cover franked with Uruguayan stamps tied by MONTEVIDEO cds's and addressed to UK. Flown on the Air France airplane 'Ville de Toulouse' which crashed into a mountain in the Pyrenees killing all crew and passengers. The cover has a four line handstamp reading 'CORRESPONDANCE AVION, retardee et deterioree, par suite de l'accident aerien, survenu le 23 MARS 1938' struck in blue on front. Scarce.
